My personal thoughts on
the Henryville Indiana and surrounding areas Massive Killer Super Cell Tornado
that struck early evening of March 2nd 2012.
I am deeply saddened and
my heart is broken, the level of damage and closeness to home for me is un
real. It has been dubbed in henryville, Indiana ground zero as “ the town wiped
clean off the map “ To the victims in South Indiana, Henryville, clark and
Jefferson county’s Indiana There are no words to describe the pain and inner
sadness that I feel. This type of damage is nearly un heard of in this part of
the country. Heres what I know about the tornado’s. nineteen ( 19 ) persons
have been confirmed dead in the state of KY alone. As Skywarn Storm
Spotters and other Vol emergency services i want to say, Where here for you
guy’s! My heart goes out to all victims and all family and friends involved
here in KY, IN and nationwide. as this EF-4 / EF-5 damage is very rarely seen
SPECIALY in our area. I would have to
say with solid steel I Beams twisted
and mangled cars and even Buses and heavy trucks mangled and or twisted up
together. this mentioned tornado in henryville may borderline being officialy
placed at a EF-5 rated tornado. Giving it winds likely in excess of 170 MPH
in Henryville Indiana area. Just after the storm there where 95 reports of
tornados that where ( Reported ) on the ground in at least 3
states KY, OH and IN. Ky itself has seen Id
estimate over 30 tornados Confirmed touch downs by the NWS in less than a 2
month period already in 2012
( And we have
maybe even 3 months of severe weather to go )
The National Weather
Service should be able to conclude the actual Henryville tornado investigation
today or very soon! as this tornado is now Pre-Lim rated to at least a starting
level EF-4 Cat. size. Today I look for the NWS to make a final official EF
designation and confirm as this tornado oddly actually needed a second review!
Full report and Confirmation may given out by NWS office louisville by Noon or
late evening today and I will advise as soon as I see them come out and post
there findings as soon as I know.
MY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP
TO THE AREA AND EVENT:
I Personally had 2
family’s that are very dear to my heart involved. One a very close friend that I have mentored in
life type things for at least a year. She is only 20 and already in her life
suffered great human and emotional losses. I warned her early the day before,
the day of and AGAIN thank god was able to warn her about 15 minutes before the
tornado hit her area. She huddled in her basement of her large home in Clark
County, Indiana. She said her 2 young children still hadn’t stopped screaming
and crying even hours after the storm. The entire front of her house was
knocked clean off the foundation causing a near full collapse while they took
shelter below in the basement. She also is pregnant
with child 3 and a very high risk pregnancy it is. She asked me how or what she
should do to get her children to stop screaming in fear, heart broken, I simply
texted “ I do not even have any answers for that “
The second family I was
able to make sure One of my best friends of that family was warned and they
were previously were alerted and thank god, was en route to my friend ( the
contact’s ) brother’s house to take shelter in and near Milton Kentucky. They
too also witnessed a very large tornado and the destruction of the Milton, KY
Firehouse and other damage. This tornado in Milton, Ky Trimble County, KY area crossed the
river where KY juts out on the map ALL are safe and alive in both story’s thank the good lord!!!
I also was able to early
warn many people up to 8 hours in advance and those in direct fire whom i had
there phone numbers i called by voice directly and alerted them to a tornado in
there area.
Maybe i saved a few
peoples lives? I hope that i did! That's a personal oath i took as a public
servant years ago as a past vol firefighter for Pewee Valley Fire Dept for 8
years. I Truly enjoy helping others and enjoy Safety and Security as well. with
over 10 years in both combined.
